Day 8, 9, and 10

not much distinguishes these days, running wise, but i some clarity of strategy is starting to come through. so, that's what this post is.

----

it seems like i've hit a rhythm where the muscles and the mind are getting used to this kind of pace.

strategy, too, seems to be coming together. i.e., monday, "active recovery" came into my head and i decided that doing an active recovery day at the beginning of the week, following the long run on saturdays and mid-distance on sunday, is smart.

a group of friends run on the same trail loop on tuesday mornings and then do coffee after that, so i'm planning to make tuesdays that active recovery day.

my sister in-law, emily, gave me some good thoughts that splitting up miles several days a week could be really helpful to longevity. so, i'm taking that up as well and doing at least 8 in the morning and 4 at lunch.

i've also started a spreadsheet so that i can visualize my progress and model staying at least close to the line i need to keep.

that's here.

one other thing i noticed: my town, and these mountains, seem quite unreal when morning light plays on them. i get a great view of the east ridge in montreat going up montreat road, and then a beautiful view of the swannanoas coming back down montreat road. a good reason to keep that road (plus the ~1.5 miles of sidewalk) on the route in the morning.

according to my (chatgpt) calculates, as the crow flies, being 90.04 miles in, this seems to put me somewhere around a junk removal place in knoxville, tennessee (35.9847, -83.9752).

that's it. just making up miles.
